My followers and friends here know because of my sloppy commenting and posting recently that we are in 'manic wedding mode'. My son (my only child) and his lovely fiance, his best friend for the past seven years, will be getting married on July 19th.
It's the first wedding in either of our families for quite a few years, and there is much excitement. Planning a wedding when none of the parties lives in the city it's actually happening in, presents unique challenges. We have guests coming from the UK, China, and Canada as well as across the US. India. It's what happens when everyone is spread out. It's going to be a very eclectic crowd with parents of the Bride/Groom being British, American and Serbian. I made the wedding favors - we are using honey from our hives - into little 3oz jars. The label has their names/wedding date and the words 'Meant to Bee'. I am going to match the ribbon to the shade of pink my son and his groomsmen will have in their ties. So excited to see the favors come together.
I have done a wedding where I didn't live and can only imagine the complexity for one where NO ONE lives in the same city! What a clever idea for wedding favors and so well done! Fabulous shot of it, Jan!
How exciting! I think you've done a marvelous job here, on the favors and the photo! PS if you need a break, there will be a gathering of about 75 Triumphs at Borst Park in Centralia at noon on Sat (13th), just west of exit 82 I-5 SB. I'll be there, but we're driving our 1981 911, as we have to go to Seattle.
@grammyn@maggiemae - Thanks Katy and Maggiemae - Katy - my son and his fiance met in Seattle - but they are in Kansas City, MO where she goes to law school - her parents live and work in China - we are probably the closest 60 miles away. :-) Definitely you will hear all about it - and there will be pics. The photographer is a good one, but I will take my camera, too. I am thinking of picking up something small and portable so I don't have to lug my camera bag in dress and heels - LOL.
@nanalisarocks - thank you Lisa! OH my word - I so wish that was any weekend day but this coming Saturday. Our Relay for Life event is at noon on Saturday - I have to be there to do the survivor lap (tradition - LOL) and then go to the airport later to pick up my sis and her hubby. Darn! Hope you will have another Washington event before too long. BTW, my brother-in-law is a car buff - he imported an older corvette to the UK - do u know of any other car events in the area in the couple of weeks? They will be here until the 27th.
Wonderful, wonderful idea and shot! I wish I lived closer, to help out making favors or mowing lawn or doing whatever you need help with. It'll all be over in a few weeks, then you can COLLAPSE!!
@jankoos Relay is SO IMPORTANT! I haven't participated for a few years, but Matt is a 10 year surivor!! You go, girl! There will be other events, and I will let you know of any I hear about. We have a covered bridge tour but it's on the 20th..I think you'll be busy! LOL!
@nanalisarocks - Thanks Lisa - congrats to Matt! Ten years out is a milestone. My first one is 20 years - the most recent round nine. This is the first year I haven't been on the committee for our local event - I have chaired survivorship twice, but more often advocacy/education. It's important to educate people about preventable cancers. Oh a covered Bridge tour sounds amazing. So - the wedding is the evening of the 9th - north Lake Union in Seattle - same evening there is a Paul McCartney concert - 45,000 attendees at the baseball stadium, and also it's the Bite of Seattle at the Seattle Center. Could they have conjured up a weekend with more traffic? We are staying at a hotel in Seattle on the 19th and will go to the Bite on the 20th - my family will get to experience a typical Seattle festival and the Bite is always fun.
@grammyn - you got it, Katy! @dakotaburns - Thanks, Donald - this kind of thing is fun for me. @bristolrose - Thanks Kathryn - haha - 'bee'. @cazann - Thanks Caz - yes - excited - a little nervous thinking of the things we have yet to do - but really looking forward to it. @mamamia - Thanks so much, Joanne! @carolb - Thanks so much Carol - haha - come on over - LOL. It would be fun having your help with the favors. The week after the wedding I have a quilt retreat - glutton for punishment - LOL. @cathieg - Thanks so much, Cathie.
Jan, this is fantastic! Such a special, personal and sweet (!) favor. Everyone will love it. Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials. Can't wait to see some photos. Sounds like it will be a wonderful wedding!
How wonderful Jan, wow what a lot of excitement. I love the Honey favours, I am not sure what favours are but I assume they are given to the guests and the fact that this is home-made is even better. Love the photo too, lovely focus and great bokeh too
