Today we hiked up to Glacier View - about four miles round trip - we had to turn around when we reached the snow field. It was pea soup fog going up - and we were blessed with moments when the cloud cover cleared and we saw the mountain. About halfway down I got this shot.
The climb was steep but it was fun. We went early - and a good thing - coming down, we passed three bus loads of microsoft interns on a field trip. Going up early in the morning we followed climbers bound for the summit - I had hoped for better visibility so I could capture them climbing - but perhaps next week!
Thank you for all the lovely comments and favs for my 'Fairyland' pic - landed on PP and I see it has 33 fav's - more than I have received for any one shot before. I was thrilled!
Edited to add this was on the PP 12AUG - same time as fairyland - I have only had a few pics make pp and never two at once. Thanks friends!
@kathyladley - thanks for the fav, Kathy - glad you like! @revjett - thanks Jett. This is at Paradise - Mt Rainier National Park in Washington State in the US. We moved down here from Seattle 11 years ago so we would be able to hike in the park - it's my favorite place in the world. We can be at the park entrance in 35 minutes and at Paradise in a bit over an hour.
So amazing!!! Surprised there is still that much snow, as warm as it is been down here in the valleys. Makes it so beautiful. Never have hiked up there....the last time I was there was many years ago.....but would like to do a hike, maybe not a climb. Thanks for sharing this and reminding me... again. FAV
What a beautiful view I love the contrast between the greenery in the foreground and the snow covered mountain. Congrats of the Fairyland pic too, the PP and many favs are well deserved.
@cazann - thanks for the fav, Caz - if you ever come this way, we have a guest room - I have English tea and food here, too - LOL. @jerwinkie - thanks for the fav, Jerwin! Glad you like it! @libertylady - thanks for the fav and follow, Alice - following you now, too. :-) @pamknowler - thanks Pam - yes - we love it here most of the time. Thanks for the fav. @steviepix - thanks for the fav Stevie - glad you like it. @paul2782 - thanks so much, Paul - glad you like it! @paulaw - it got to 35 - LOL - thanks Paula! @eyesmile - thanks for the fav, Gena. We don't climb either - although my hubby has summited Mt Rainier when he was a little younger. The trails are steep but you just pace yourself. :-) It's worth it.
@jankoos Thanks Jan, you never know, I might turn up on your doorstep one day. English tea sounds good ( I've just had to order some Yorkshire tea from Amazon as the last lot I brought back with me has all gone... 10cents a teabag ! ) !
@cazann - we have a British import shop 30 miles away but pretty preicey. Still have to load up on silly things like heinz beans, robinsons marmalade, and chocolate digestives.
Oh what a wonderful landscape, view and photo Jan! I am so behind with my commenting again but had to comment on all these lovely photos. Huge congrats on 2 PP's, well done.
