Helicopters by jankoos

Helicopters

When we were kids we called these seeds 'helicopters'. We would throw them up in the air and watch them spin back down to the ground. I suppose the spinning was reminiscent of helicopter blades.

These were on an Acer Griseum (peeling bark maple). I did take a couple and throw them up in the air - not quite as riveting as I remember - LOL - but maybe these are not the same variety as the ones from my childhood.
love it! My yard is full of these, from various maples. We used to do the same thing as kids.

Ah yes....helicopters. I called them the same thing and also have fond memories of playing with them in my yard. Nicely captured with the fall tones.
