Bridge Deck

I have to drive over this bridge whenever I go anywhere.
I love it and hate it. When we bought the property it seemed like a romantic thing. In reality it's a bit of an albatross.
We share it with two other families - share repairs and maintenance, and worry about it when the river is running like crazy. It's 90ft long and 12 or 13 ft wide. The underpart is a railroad car - then runners that are big - 6" x 8" by long (not sure how long - we have them custom made). The planks sit on top - they are 4" thick by 13ft long and vary in width. Each one is custom milled.
This year for the first time in a good ten years we are replacing all the planks and runners underneath. Well - I say 'we' - but I mean my hubby and the neighbors - I usually take a few pics and then leave for the day. We all have to park on the other side when it's being worked on.
I sat down to take this - I was a quarter the way across.
When we built our house, we encountered some truck drivers who were not so keen and we had to have smaller than normal loads brought over. On days like this when the evening light is right, I love it.
This is quite an amazing shot

I enjoyed your commentary as much as I enjoyed the picture. I'm sure the renovation will present many great photo opportunities.

@chard - We have a 22 ton limit posted on ours, Richard - but there is a lot of steel under it, so it's safe but some people assume it's just wood - LOL.

@callymazoo - Hi Cally - no other way in - but we are very rural so the only people who would be walking over it are the three homeowners and their guests. Occasionally we get horse-riders over it or teens going down to the river to fish. We have a 5MPH sign posted and if someone is walking on it you wait to drive over. My hubby and I currently are the only ones back here who walk over it regularly for exercise or to watch the salmon in the river.

@princessleia - ha yes - nice thought, Leia. I took advantage of the shadows and sunlight and then saturated a bit.
