Sunspots by jaybutterfield

Sunspots

My 10X ND filter arrived! Only 12 days before the eclipse here in the US and I can't wait but I had to try it out to make sure I would get the settings right -- this is f36 @ 1/8000 and ISO 100 at 135mm (kit zoom lens limitation), about as stopped down and fast as I can get. Manual focus to infinity and voila . . . a nice shot of the sun with a bonus sunspot lower right and what appears to be a (very light) sunstorm upper left but also so sense of the temperature difference between the center and the edge of the sun. Excited for August 21 and hopefully a nice shot of the corona at totality. Will post here if successful.
How cool!

looking forward to everyone's eclipse shots. This is a great sun shot - so neat to see the great star that we depend on.
