Scott's Tulip Bed in Community Garden by jbritt

Scott's Tulip Bed in Community Garden

Friday evening, Leslie and I worked spent three hours working on the community garden plot that we share with Nickie. We pulled weeds, harvested chives and arugula, roto-tilled the soil, and planted peas.

I had planned to photograph the 5K race in Crystal City at that time, but ended up photographing the garden instead.

Our former plot-neighbor, Scott, came by to inspect his new plot in the middle of the garden while we were working. I was glad that I took this photo before he returned with his wife to harvest tulips. As they left, he picked some tulips for me so now I have a vase of fresh tulips on my dining room table and another one in my office.

I love this year's tulip season!
Breathtakingly beautiful to see as this page displayed. So feathery! And the bokeh background with an analogous color just features the target. Composition perfectly demonstrates the rule of thirds. I always like the target in this location; I think it's the left to right western bias of the way I first scan image or text. [I love your loving this year's tulip season, that joy communicates itself in your photographs]

I love it's feathery texture. Tulips are my favorite too!
