As I biked across Key Bridge on my way home this afternoon, I noticed someone taking a photo. I had already stopped to take photos in Georgetown but couldn't resist stopping again since the view was so pretty.
When I took this shot, I was afraid the Washington Monument would blend in with the sky but I think it shows well enough to be recognizable. To the right is Roosevelt Island. On the left is Georgetown and the Whitehurst Freeway. You can also see Watergate and the Kennedy Center. It was hot today, but the humidity is lower and the sky was beautiful.
I biked to a doctor appointment in Silver Spring. It's only 12-15 miles depending on my route, but it seems further because I crossed two political boundaries (from Virginia, through DC and into Maryland). When I walked into the building I saw the nurse talking to someone in the lobby. As I walked by, I heard her tell him that I biked all the way from Virginia. And the doctor asked about my bike as soon as he saw me as well. I wonder if they would recognize me if I didn't bike to appointments in all kinds of weather.
What a clear and crisp photo! The Monument does really show up against the blue sky. The brown stair step building on the left is a building I always admire. Water ripples are very cool.
