Rainy Night Drive by jbritt

Rainy Night Drive

It seems like it's been raining forever. I took this on my way home from Costco this evening. This is in Clarendon, a few blocks from my house. I had trouble deciding between this and another shot in Pentagon City, taken just after I left the Costco parking lot. This has more colors and shows the pouring rain on the pavement.
You make the big city not look so scary. (T)

I never thought of Clarendon as scary. I don't usually even think of it at the big city, but there was quite a contrast when I was flying from Wyoming and Colorado to Washington, DC. Even around Denver all I could see from the airplane was a patchwork of fields--a very interesting pattern--but then when we approached DC it was totally different. The whole area was covered in lights for miles and miles. So yes, I can see how it would be scary and I guess it is a big city. This is a few blocks from where I live, but my immediate neighborhood looks very suburban.

@smithfamily i didn't mean to argue with your comment. I just find it interesting that this image seems scary to you. I value your comments immensely. I guess I do tend to exaggerate the city-like aspects of my neighborhood sometimes and the rainy night seems to bring those out.

@jbritt I don't think Tina found your picture scary. On the contrary, while she finds large cities to be a bit intimidating, your picture presented this subject in a way that is not scary. It is fun to live in one world (rural) and visit other worlds though the eyes of other photographers. (N)

@smithfamily I agree. I love seeing other places and perspectives on this site.
