I was taking pictures in the park surrounding Gulf Branch Nature Center this morning when I startled this Pileated Woodpecker. It flew out of the creek and onto a tree. I wished for my telephoto lens. it stayed perfectly still long enough for me to take several shots and this was the clearest. i cropped a lot but it still seems fairly sharp.
So jealous! We don't get to see these very often and I have never gotten a picture near this good. I enjoy "collecting" bird pictures and have almost 70 varieties that I have photographed, but our picture of the pileated leaves a bit to be desired. (N)
