Yellowstone Skyline by jetr

Yellowstone Skyline

Bison in the foreground, Tetons in the distance and forest burn, possibly from the 1988 devastating fire in the Park.
Great layers in this neat shot

When you see it like this nearly 30 years later, the devastation of a forest fire really sets in. Wonderful shot.

A lovely image

Interesting image, lovely scenery in the background, burnt trees in front. As you probably know, we too have bad bushfires but eucalypts regenerate quite well as a rule. Doesn't look like these pines (?) do that.

@seattlite @dawnee Thank you!
@777margo Yes, there was a big (5.8) this morning up in western Montana.
@golftragic Thank you, Marnie. There were parts of the Park that were naturally re-seeding, but this particular section had not. It could have been more recent, or just a patch of different trees that don't regrow as quickly.

@jetr Thanks Joan, all very interesting.

That is hard to believe that the forest isn't showing more recovery. I have read stories of seeds that lie dormant and how fires cause them to open and produce new vegetation. This looks like it happened recently.

@skipt07 I agree, Skip. Around here those trees are Lodgepole Pines. There are plenty of those in the Park and they surely would have reseeded by now, so this must be a more recent fire. Thanks for stopping by!
