This discarded rose had its stem broken near the top and was hanging wet and heavy at 90 degrees. It was also blowing like crazy in the wind - had to take many shots to get only a few in focus.

Great job getting such a crisp shot in those conditions. I recently read a tip from someone to carry a spray bottle around to spritz on flowers even in non-rainy conditions to give the illusion of dew. I might try that the next time I photograph a flower.
@sourkraut ~ Thanks. I've seen pics on here that were admittedly spritzed, and they look great. I think it rains here enough that I won't have to do that. But, I think I might try sugar-water spritzing in the summer to try and attract insects. I'm not a fan of baiting wildlife for photos, but insects....wellll maybe that's okay.
Now that's a clever idea. I say go for it! Insects don't fall into the cute and cuddly category so I wouldn't mind messing with them a bit either. Besides, you'd be giving them a free snack. Where's the harm?
