This is a new temporary art installation at a vacant lot in downtown Halifax. The site has been empty for ages, but is slated to become a new $159-million convention centre despite much controversy over the development.
The artist, Scott Saunders, will eventually place up to 100 mannequin-scarecrow hybrid figures (there are currently about 40 already installed) that represent a “frozen, fenced-in population, at once ambiguous, abstract, and wondrous.” I think it’s creepy, which is what I like about it.
I'm currently situated in Victoria, having previously lived in Beijing, Halifax, Chilliwack, Calgary, Vancouver and growing up in Northwestern Ontario. My aim with photography is...
Love the ones in the back... reminds me of zombies in a way. These could look scary when it's dark... I like how you used the fence for framing the faces!
