Forcible confinement. by jgoldrup

Forcible confinement.

Why did I take this photo? Well. I found the biggest weevil I'd ever seen in my apartment today; I hadn't used my reverse macro adapter ring in ages; and this is the very last Canadian penny I will ever spend. The penny is supposed to demonstrate how gigantic the weevil is. Of course, if you don't know the size of a Canadian penny, the scale will not be very helpful to you. Trust me - the weevil was big. It was also highly mobile, despite my attempts to confine it for a photo shoot. I released it in the lobby of my building so it could have more adventures.
Cool

@laurentye Weevils are actually pretty cute...if you ignore the antennae, they kind of look like dogs. Without ears. ;)

So that's what a weevil looks like eh? I never ever knew that. I love the penny bokeh in the shot:)

I think I would prefer a dog than a weevil, just can't imagine a weevil greeting me when I get home from work, or scratching a weevil behind the ...antenna

Great close up!

I don't know how big a Canadian penny is. I'm guessing it's not as large as it is on the screen or the bug and the coin would be extra freaky. I'm glad you let it go afterwards. I always do that with any spiders I find.

Last penny you'll spend? don't tell me you're going on the Euro too! thats an ugly muther, we don't have them here.

Why is that the last Canadian penny you'll ever spend? Where are you going? Somewhere with less snow I assume :)

@chewyteeth @onarom ~ They are no longer being produced. We can still spend them for now, but they are not being given out with change.

@sabresun ~ I'm not very familiar with your coins, Matt, but there is likely a suitable comparison....do you still have a 2 pence?

ew! Good for you for letting it go...I would have flattened or flushed him!
