Why did I take this photo? Well. I found the biggest weevil I'd ever seen in my apartment today; I hadn't used my reverse macro adapter ring in ages; and this is the very last Canadian penny I will ever spend. The penny is supposed to demonstrate how gigantic the weevil is. Of course, if you don't know the size of a Canadian penny, the scale will not be very helpful to you. Trust me - the weevil was big. It was also highly mobile, despite my attempts to confine it for a photo shoot. I released it in the lobby of my building so it could have more adventures.

I don't know how big a Canadian penny is. I'm guessing it's not as large as it is on the screen or the bug and the coin would be extra freaky. I'm glad you let it go afterwards. I always do that with any spiders I find.
