Glen Roy by jmj

Glen Roy

I had a wilderness experience today, revisiting remote Glen Roy. It's not for the faint-hearted - a winding single-track road with sheer drops and not another vehicle for 8 miles. Eagle country. I loved it!
The glen is famous for its geological feature - 'parallel roads' (which you can see here) formed by the ice age 12000 years ago.
Terrific shot and interesting geology. I hope you managed to spot an eagle!

@busylady Sadly no eagles today - but I did see deer and lots of other birds.

Great long slopes almost as if it's been scooped out. You walked here Jennifer, you are a hardy soul! Ok in summer but must be wild in winter, beautiful though!

@happypat I drove, Pat - you can see the road snaking along the bottom of the glen. Not enough energy these days for long walks!
