This is not the best photo but I had to post it as I was in awe of its size! There is no way to judge its size in this photo but believe me it was massive!
I always used to carry a penny with me for scale - I wonder when I stopped? Anyway, perhaps you wouldn't want to put your fingers near if he's poisonous!
@janemartin I did think of you Jane when I photographed this! It’s back end was about 12mm which I know you will probably scoff at, but for a red back that was pretty big, so big it could barely walk!
@anniesue I did think about putting something near it for scale, it is poisonous so I wasn’t going to be my finger, it was creeping me out being this close to it!
@jodies I just googled this spider! Your one is a giant as you say. Google says the biggest is normally 10mm so yours was a mega beast. I not sure i would have gone any closer! I would have been using a zoom lens from 100 metres away!
