Between Alresford and Abbotstone. This had me wondering about optical fibre broadband, and when we will get it. But now I'm thinking these are power lines after all.
They are indeed power lines - and fibre broadband isn't all it is cracked up to be (unless you have a very slow existing network). We switched last year from a 4Mb conventional BB to 40 Mb fibre and there is no difference on the desktop. Browser is the slowest link so it still takes the same time to load a page. The only difference is if you download a large file which does happen very quickly.

@madwill Thanks for useful info. I imagine uploading large images for making photo-books will be faster.

@jqf Yes - but you have to ask if it is worth paying almost double broadband charges just for that. I personally wished I hadn't bothered but have another 13 months contract to run. There are just the two of us so we don't need to support multiple users all watching iPlayer/you tube on separate devices!
