This is just so embarrassing; no wonder our boat was sluggish!
Things got worse when the nut holding the back of the anode came off and fell into the bilges.
Lesson learned...always do the simplest of jobs on a boat when there are lots of people around offering advice, and where there is a chandlery on site!
