At this time of the year crowds gather in front of Copocabana’s cathedral to have their cars dressed up with flowers. They then let off firecrackers (actually dynamite!) and pour “champagne” over in the manner of a Grand Prix winner. Some had the priest sprinkle holy water over as well as a blessing.
