Other than the parade being in honour of San Sebastián, I have not a clue what this was all about! It was Catholic, Andean, Inca, Shaman and Pagan all at the same time. The parade took an hour to pass, and the waiting crowd were offered slugs of the local fire water, sweets and pieces of fruit. My husband was given a rose. I think this man was trying to tell me that he was a shaman from Cotopaxi (the local volcano). All very strange!
