After processing in HDR software Photomatix Essentials the HDR effect was not that noticeable due to the low light. But the software includes a number of other "fun" adjustments, of which this is one. I cannot remember which one, however.
If you are interested in playing with HDR with minimal investment I suggest Photomatix Essentials; it is around $40
@Weezilou The same folks that make Photomatix Essentials also have a "Pro" version; I have the trial version installed as well. It does do more things but I have yet to rationalize the $99 expense. I have HDR functionality in the Corel PaintShop Photo Pro (Photoshop-like) but it does not do as good a job as does the Photomatix. It does make for interesting merges, however.
