I do not know why so many snails chose this location; perhaps some snail killer attractant. There are several other trees of the same type within a few yards with no snails on them.

The Opening scend features an early 20th Century executive taking a running leap out of a window of a tall building looking similar to the one in your photo! Sounds morbid, but it is an excellent darkly comedic film
