@cejaanderson@tristansmum@susale Although very thorny, these thimgs are too huge to be called "stems." Each of these stalks(?) is about 2.5 inches im diameter and stand almost 8 feet high!
I have no idea what they're called. The bookend a corporate sign outside of an office building. I suspect they are not local but some exotic import simply for decoration.
