I bought this today for my Christmas Present. My husband wanted me to pick it out and they were on sale today. I could have had a bigger, fancier one, but I chose this "point and shoot" because I just don't want a complicated camera, and I also wanted it to be small. I want to carry it around my neck.
My current camera has a 3X optical zoom/5 MP.
So I am sure it will be an improvement. I can't wait to play with it after Christmas!
