I definitely wanted to share this collection with you during the project so here we go :)
These are books dealing with the FIFA World Cups and UEFA Europe Cups from 2006-2014. They are by the German sports magazine Sport Bild and brought out after each championship. They contain e.g. pictures of the games, background facts and statistics. I discovered it in 2006 after the World Cup and have been collecting (and reading) them every two years :D I'm currently obsessed with the 2014 one, the texts are well written and the pics are stunning too :)
The funny thing is btw, that except from the World/Europe Cup I don't ever watch football but I'm totally obsessed with these two and the belonging books ^^
That's a great collection, Jule! Nicely presented. It is amazing how an event like the World Cup can spark the interest of people that would otherwise not watch a sport. There was much higher than normal interest here in The States, too, even after the US was eliminated. There's something about an event like that that grabs our attention.
@kannafoot Definitely find that interesting, too :) Maybe it's a but because of the coach Klinsmann? In 2006, when I became a world cup fan and he was coach here (I wasn't one before because I was only five :D) there were also a lot of people that became soccer fans. It was the first time people in Germany started to proudly show their flags again, no one did before, probably due to historical reasons. I'm not sure it was only the coach but it probably was one if the reasons :)
Oh can't comment on this composition, where is the world cup 1966, that was the one and I missed it being on a ocean yacht. I did visit Wilhemshaven later that year but the German people didn't want to talk about it. So lovely capture and well done GERMANY, said through gritted teeth.
Richtig cool. Ich bin ja quasi durch meinen Freund auch ausserhalb von WM und EM Fußball Fan aber ich find es auch cool das solche Events dann doch ganz Europa oder in dem Fall sogar die ganze Welt für etwas begeistern können :) happy reading ;)
@adambralston Five will still take a while, it's only 4 so far :D (54,74,90,2014) I'm thinking of buying one too but I have no idea which player I should take because I like all :D At the moment, they're totally sold out all over the country anyway... do you have some in the States? @joemuli Thanks Joey :))
