Move along - just a very bad picture of me watching the train wreck that was this evening. What a heart-break. How can this be? Don't ask me, I voted against the clown.
I wholeheartedly agree with your tag. I also voted against him, and telling my children this morning felt like telling them a family member had died - and before anyone tells me not to be so flippant about that, I've done that, and it felt exactly like this.
i am with you. so, so disturbed to think we have so many blind followers in our country not thinking of what will now happen. just told my husband i refuse to pay taxes while he is in office!
@graemestevens yup, although I was leaning more toward poorly-trained circus orangutan... @helenm2016 I had to stay up for it, it's gonna be a long mournful day... thanks Helen. @maggiemae thank you Maggie Mae, I don't feel that it was. I wanted to create something more poignant but my emotions would not let me! @vera365 agreed dear Vera, in so many ways. I didn't even have the stomach for the drink (which I was hoping to use to celebrate instead!)... @jesperani yes!! What is wrong with the people this year!! :( @susale thanks Suse, it was a very short one but I will take my day to mourn and then get back on the horse and keep up the fight! @jack4john it's so disheartening and embarrassing... makes you doubt your faith in humanity! @onewing exactly! I hope it stops there so we can deal with all of this and then recover from this... all of us! @ltodd agreed. I've never wanted four years to pass by so fast! I'm afraid of what this will cost everyone... @domenicododaro so completely frightening, dear Domenico... It's a dark day. @sarahsthreads Sarah, I feel you - I woke up my kids and that was the first thing out of their mouths. It was so heart-breaking having to tell them! @catsmeowb seriously, it s extremely disturbing - why are so many people so blind to this horror???
@kerosene I didn't have the stomach for it watching throughout, but at the end I more than needed it. Drank the first thing I could find in the house, went to bed fearing what I will say to my kid in the morning.
@vera365 ;) and I haven't outright cursed on my project unless I replaced letters with symbols... but this is too much. The article you gave me the link to is very good, I appreciate it!
I'm with you... beyond crazy results. I've been telling my kids for months that he would never win. That the people of American would never allow such a thing to happen. I'm shocked that so many picked a racist reality TV host to run their country. It's simply mind boggling!!
@shylaine3304 it is soooo depressing. Why would so many people vote to 'make America hate again'. I was glad so many went out to demonstrate - in LA they were so numerous, it was awesome. I'm with you, I'm REALLY fearful. Yesterday I grieved - I truly wasn't myself. Today is a new day and I fight. We must stick together and keep up the fight!
@jerome it's a very difficult time, hard to fathom and understand - I agree! @kwind I hear you Kim! When he first ran I laughed it off it was so ridiculous - and I too have been telling my kids he would never win. It's like taking a giant leap backwards. All the progress - gone. It's very sad!
@kerosene I just can't comprehend it really, Iv been in such a gloomy mood, I will never except him as president in my heart. I'm very afraid at the divide this man will cause
@shylaine3304 that is exactly how i have felt since the primaries - in our state, every town voted for bernie sanders yet all the 'super delegates' had already pledged to clinton and he is from vermont, where i live, so she got them. it did make any sense to any of us. we put up a huge fuss but it made no difference. it is not just the electoral college that needs to be looked at.
I'd say to every one here who left a comment that I'm sad to see this very positive, supportive community express such negativity while never considering how they might feel if the tables were turned differently and the other half was spewing hateful messages. I wasn't thrilled eight years ago, but I never would have expressed myself in this manner. I think this community is better than this. This page looks to me like nothing more than mob mentality...sorry, because I really do like you all...
@Weezilou dear Louise, I disagree with the 'mob mentality' as we all felt the same individually, so I viewed this as support... and it was not my intent to offend with this as to me, this is not as much a matter of party but individual - when one's own party is so very divided on one's character, that's saying something. Most presidents, regardless of parties, have wanted to do something for the people - but to me, that is not him and regardless of politics, he’s never been someone I ever liked. That is all I will say about this, and this post shall be my first and last one to have anything to do with politics… As I’ve learned in life to get along with anyone, regardless of politics, and as my dear little Linus Van Pelt once said, “There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin.”
@kerosene Bless you. darlin'! It's been stunning to me up here how much people seem to care about what I think and then rail me for it! I get it (totally) that we all see the world from different perspectives, but for the most part, I'm a "live and let live" person who loves people on a plane apart from their political bent. I'm seldom pushed to ire, but there were a few instances here where I could no longer hold back (unfortunately knowing the others would be unlikely to read it, but you were left with my rant!) It will all settle and work itself out soon. I loved the patriotic America of my childhood, and hope we can join together again. Perhaps times were better when there was less media stirring the pot and our vote was always a private one. That said, it's a new day, and I hope civility and unity might reign. Wouldn't it be lovely if, with support, things begin to go well?! I'm on your team no matter what, girlfriend, and agreeing to sometimes disagree can only lead to hugs ♥ : )
Your creativity remains Caroline. I missed all this (I mean on the project - not the real event about which I will respectfully remain quiet as it is not my country). But I've come back for a while and see you've gone absent. Hope all is well and you are not still in bed with your eyes closed not daring to peep out on the world. Take care - hope to see you soon.

This is so depressing and unexpected.
First off, Caroline, I love the very appropriate tag.
I too did not, could not even think of this assclown being a serious contender. Some of the reports I read explain that it was mostly people in rural areas without a college education that voted for him.
I am somewhat heartened by this news: http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/11/09/501393501/shades-of-2000-clinton-surpasses-trump-in-popular-vote-tally
We need to somehow change our system so that one vote is equal to one vote, not this goddamned electoral college farce we are using.
On the plus side, It's only 4 years...... less if he gets assassinated or impeached before then. :)
