Lincoln Home by khawbecker

Lincoln Home

The home of Abraham Lincoln and his family in Springfield, Illinois. They lived in this house for twenty-five years, until they left for Washington D.C. in 1861.

After a long wait to return to Springfield, I finally got to tour this house for the first time today. I was most impressed to see Lincoln's original desk in the upstairs bedroom (near the upper left window in this picture). He often burned the midnight oil working at that desk.

For a photo of the back of the house, see http://365project.org/khawbecker/past-and-presen/2014-05-20

Very nice history Karen! Nice shot of the house and I'm intrigued by the hint of an expansive patio in back. Is that the original color scheme?
