The Fourth of July fireworks in Washington D.C. are always a treat. Tonight was especially wonderful because the weather was uncharactistically cool for this time of year. We also dodged Hurricane Arthur.
I had a stupendous vantage point from the sixth floor balcony of the Interior Department. The Jefferson Memorial is the little building in the lower left corner.
great shot and I guess working in DC has it's perks...lol
decided at the last minute that I had to go instead of sitting and watching it on tv thinking I should have gone. Haven't actually gone since I was a child .
@leananiemand Thanks, Leana! It's deceptive. I was actually quite close, but I pulled back with the lens to get the wider view in with the monument to show the size of the exploding fireworks.
@lesip Thanks, Leslie. It definitely was a nice perk, and a rare one at that. Thanks for your encouragement too. It's hard to believe we're half way through this year and I'm half way through this project--at least for my first year.
