Saturday Afternoon Traffic by khawbecker

Saturday Afternoon Traffic

This is unfortunately a common sight in the D.C. area on Saturdays. Strategy is everything when venturing out to "run" errands. Route 1 was NOT the best way to go.

(Best viewed curled up in the fetal position in a state of denial.)
Once again, like the processing. A nice artistic feel.

@vstap Thanks, vstap. I spend so much time in traffic that I couldn't let the year pass without including one good traffic jam shot. But a straight unprocessed photo doesn't quite do it.

@khawbecker You're right. This elevates the photo.

I thought you were going to say, 'best viewed curled up in the bath"! Just as good!

Really cool shot and love the processing.

What a great depiction of traffic! I like the painterly processing, too. And your comment about best viewed made me laugh . . .

Oh, I feel sorry for you. In my village, just three cars is a traffic jam. Well documented.

I really like your processing! I lived in the LA area and in San Diego for enough years that I just hate cities now. I can't handle the crowds that you get for everything you do unless you do it a 2:00am! We are traveling in our RV and try to stay away from cities as much as possible. I feel for you!!

That is a lot of traffic! Great processing, you've made a traffic jam a work of art, cool!

We have that here to now almost anyday

Not surprised there's a traffic jam, they are all on the wrong side of the road (Wink). Nice capture and I tried your best viewing position as well.

This freaked me out! I did not realize at first that it was processed like a painting. And then I saw it....wow. I love it! But NOT the traffic. I hate that

Great capture Karen! I love the effect, paint-like, but cartoon-like as well. Sorry you had to be stuck in it!! :-(

@maggiemae Your idea is a good one as well. :)

@mittens Thanks, Marilyn.

@jyokota Thanks, Junko. One must laugh or cry with traffic like this. Laughing is so much better. :) The good thing about the traffic was that it gave me plenty of time to take this photo while I was "parked" there.

@deu49097 Thanks, Dawn. Your village sounds delightful. :)
August 18th, 2014
@stownsend Thanks, Suzie. I don't blame you for staying away from cities, especially when driving an RV. Enjoy your travels!

@dollycreek Thanks, Christine!
August 18th, 2014
@bkbinthecity I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can go with the flow as much as possible.
August 18th, 2014
@ladymagpie Ha! Your post made me laugh. I'm glad you had time to try out the best viewing position. ;)

@espyetta Thanks, MaryBeth! I'm glad I pulled off surprising you. He he. The traffic was not fun. The challenge was in turning it into something beautiful.

@davydo Thanks, Dave! I try to exercise patience when I can. I did pretty well in this particular traffic jam. I didn't have a deadline pressing on me and I wasn't trying to get to work, so, yawn, I went with the flow.

Even though this is not a fun sight, I do like the framing and the processing. Situations like this are not uncommon in Toronto these days. Very bad for air quality on top of everything else.
August 18th, 2014
@khawbecker I have grown up here so I am used to it
August 19th, 2014
Yuck... this makes me appreciate small town Iowa!
August 20th, 2014
Great processing and wonderful comment!!

It's the same around Paris. Here, when you want to go from point A to point B you don't count in distance, you count in time needed to make the distance :-( I like the processing though.
