The Face of Time

Old Knowie (named by my great grandfather) has been in the family for at least 150 years. He has survived war, several hurricanes (most recently Hurricane Katrina in 2005) and the ravages of the passing years. The writing on his face is the signature of Mr. O'Leary of GA, formerly of Liverpool, England, who repaired him on December 15, 1886. I suspect Old Knowie is very surprised to find himself on my mantel in CO, but he ticks away faithfully and still keeps excellent time.
Great picture. Everything is very sharp.

The detail in this is wonderful and you have caught the atmosphere of the period. Wonderful to think he came all the way from Liverpool - there I am thinking of your clock as a he too!

My mother has always considered him a personality, and I picked up the habit many years ago. I wish I knew more of the story of how he got to Alabama, which was my great grandparent's home, and exactly when. The date on the mechanism is 1843, and I suspect the case to be homemade.
