Moraea aristata - Peacock Iris by kiwiflora

Moraea aristata - Peacock Iris

This is a critically endangered species of plant in the genus Moraea, that is endemic to the city of Cape Town and is now restricted to the grounds of the Observatory in the Cape Town.

My little shoots are about an inch tall, and I am really hoping that in a few years time I will be lucky enough to enjoy their blooms. The flowers have three white petals with a peacock blue iris in the centre. So unusual. Fingers crossed!
