Scenes From the Past

Inspired by Jules Aarons, world renowned physicist who taught at Boston University. In his spare time, he took street shots of the Boston neighborhoods from 1947 - 1976, and he is just as well known for his photography. I came across a book of his photos at the hotel in Boston and it fascinated me. Sometimes you take you local knowledge for granted, and I realized after I posted Pete the Keeper of the Shrine that anyone who wasn't from around here might not know that the North End of Boston is the Italian section. It has changed alot, but in the old days the residents sat in chairs on the sidewalk and chatted with anyone who passed by. It was a real neighborhood back then and it's now a bit of a tourist attraction...but you can still see remnants of the old days in scenes like this.
Great capture! Love the processing too--so subtle and effective!

You definitely did a great job of capturing that spirit. I like the muted color, adds to it.
