Just finished a long, long work day with tons of technical difficulties. I think my laptop and camera are just as tired as I am after yet another long summer on the Cape. I spent way too many minutes (hours?) looking at the little revolving "not responding" symbol on the laptop and every photo I took on this cold and dark day had serious focus issues. So rather than post a photo of a blurry squirrel, raindrops or flowers, I decided to post this intent fudge maker in Provincetown, because his story seemed perfect for my day and I've always believed that fiction can tell a greater truth.
This was taken from outside the window of his shop as he was making the last batch of the day. He was intently paying attention to the fudge that was bubbling in that copper vat, but his patience with the tourists was simply over. I overheard a family talk about how grumpy he was to them and then the young pretty girl behind the counter was even worse. Can't tell you how much this made me laugh...
that is such a funny contradiction! the candy man is a grump! sorry you have had technical issues - i hate that. but your shot and story have brought a big smile to me, so thank you! :)
outside the window...really, you would have never guessed that. it is so clear. sorry about your technically frustrating day....that is a bummer. i really love this guys look. he has a lot of character in his face and your were able to capture that beautifully.
LOL I think if I worked in Provincetown I would be very grumpy too by then end of the summer. LOL My nephew works in Hyannis and he has had it with the traffic.
A great photo and a story I remember well from all of my visits to P-Town over the years. By Labor Day, the shop owners are staggeringly tired of the whole scene.
Good thing there was a pane of glass between you and him...Glad you got a good laugh at the end of a very stressful day. He does look very focused on his craft.
Grumpy, but his focus on the fudge is awesome!
AWEsome shot... perfect composition... love the sign in foreground
