Caught these two clammers coming off the Brewster flats with a basket full of clams. When they saw my camera, they thought I was a tourist so they offered to let me take a photo of their clams. I did, but I liked the one I shot of them better.
love it...L...were your ears burning today...i was talking with steph about how much we adore you. thanks for all your support...always...xoxoxoo i like this too cause you can take in the entire experience.
Cool capture, lucky guys! lol. Btw, you need to remove the sixth word in your profile ... ;-) Also, thanks a million for your fav's. You and your Mom are awesome and have a way of keeping a grin on my face, whether I'm reading your comments or checking out your pics.
@sunnygreenwood You gave me a huge grin tonight too! I actually laughed out loud. I got your comment in an email and my first thought (as a writer) was, Oh no! A mistake or mispelled word! Thank you, thank you, Anne! I've been meaning to update my hastily written profile for a while, but I would have never considered editing that sixth word. Please tell Barry he must not leave off on an unsolved mystery...at least one more photo is in order and then he can go back to fishing.
i love the way the light is coming in the from the side and is highlighting half their faces. it is so cool to think you can go out and grab some clams like you'd go out to your garden and grab some herbs. Can anyone go or do you need a license?
Wonderful capture of life in your place. The light and their poses are great, love the way they are carrying the bucket. Do you feel like having a sign on your forehead sometimes saying 'I live here!' or 'I am NOT a tourist!' :-) We feel like that too when we are out and about on our bit of coast....guess we are just lucky to live in great places.
I love this photo, and also that they were so nice to you. I find when I go to a certain North Shore city, if you take too long to cross the street (as in looking first to make sure it's safe) I've been yelled at by people in cars to "Stop being such a tourist!" Also I agree with @robinwarner --you are always so supportive and nice. :-) @sunnygreenwood and Anne really makes a point there. :-)
@stepheesue Cape Cod is famous for its light - it's why artists have been coming in droves for over a century, but I never really understood that light until I joined 365. To go clamming, you do need a license, but it's only $20 a year. We have one, but we've been working 7 days a week all summer. In the off season, one of my vegetable crispers is full of clams all the time, thanks to my sweet husband.
@5unflow3r Trina, all you peeps are making my day! Thank you for the kind words and support. I'm really looking forward to meeting you in person. About the tourist thing - I actually pretend to be one! It allows me to take photos without suspicion when I do restaurant reviews or shoot strangers like these. I did tell these guys I was local because they were so nice and we had a nice chat about the best beaches to clam.
I'm almost done catching up with comments that people left for me and you had asked me a few questions that I responded to. If you don't' get notifications, let me know and I will link to them. :)
awesome
did they give u any clams for the road?
are you limited to how many u can catch? or is the $20 unlimited. I know here in some rivers and lakes you are only allowed a certain number of fish
