Today our daughter's boyfriend who is a tree guy dropped off a whole load of free wood. Not cut up logs, but tree lengths as big as a car, well my Jeep actually, because that's what they've displaced in the driveway. So when my husband got home from work, he started splitting logs and I grabbed my camera. I discovered it's not easy to get a good portrait on a dark and cloudy day of a man weilding an ax. When I complained he suggested we trade places and then jumped on top of the wood pile and posed for long enough for me to take 3 shots. This is the best one. I wish the sky wasn't so white, but it didn't seem prudent to test his patience any further...
How wonderful to be married to a strong, handy man who is willing to pose for you!! I'm sure that the wood will make for some very nice fires as the weather cools!
What a man! :-) Great photo! I didn't bring my camera today, so I ended up with that pic of Sophie and Mitzi at home. BUT...guess what I saw...a really huge hawk in a tree...high enough that he wouldn't have minded my gawking at him, but too far away for the iPhone. He was gorgeous. And my camera was at home.
that is wildly impressive!!! I actually LOVE the white background - the whole focus is on your manly man and his adorable smile. What a guy! Great shot, my dear.
@5unflow3r Don't you hate that! It reminds me of my bad settings on the fox I chased. At least you took a photo of beautiful Sophie. My photo that day was of a rock!
@lauriehiggins Aw thanks, but in your defense, that was one pointy rock! Oh guess what? Friday we are going to visit my daughter Heather's new kitten...i don't know which one of us is more excited. LOL Kitten pic on Friday....oh yeah
@stepheesue Thank you so much...that white background really is just the sky with no processing, but it does make my honey stand out on a dark day. He NEVER poses for me and usually covers his face when he sees me coming with camera in hand or makes a goofy face that he knows I won't use. Tonight when he saw me, he actually said, "Come on," and it wasn't an invitation. But I sat on a tree trunk and told him I was practicing action shots and portraits. He totally took me off guard when he jumped on top of the pile of wood right in front of me and actually posed for all of 10 seconds. The smile was such a bonus...
Have you tried using flash? I think it's a really good photo, if you had bracketed your photos you could have done a little editing in Photoshop with the sky.
Thank you for all your nice comments on my photos
oh i am so happy to be able to meet him. he looks like he exudes happiness....i like the all white background...and i think he is a manly man!!! that is all good :)
I can't believe Steve actually cooperated for a photo. He's one of the nicest guys I know, but he never likes to be the center of attention. Good job to both of you. The photo is fantastic! He looks very happy, and I know that he is. Maybe we'll swing by in December to enjoy a fire with you. :o)
Thank you for all your nice comments on my photos
the white background actually works great
he didn't seem annoyed at all!
