Burning Darwin by Richard Neal

I met a friend for coffee today at the Cape Cod Chat House, a local coffee house that features the work of local artists. I love this sculpture. Can anyone guess what it is made from?
Looks like wood, but I'm guessing thin strips of metal?
Whatever it's made of, it's a cool sculpture!

What a neat shot! The beard looks like curled up, very dirty, strips of paper. Other parts, I'm gonna' go with Robin and Rick...bark of a tree... specifically a eucalyptus tree. Since we have those here, and you don't have them on the Cape, that seems unlikely.

It's tree bark, I think! Isn't it from those weird trees that smell funny? Love it, whatever it is, although the eyes are a little creepy.

@cmuir1963 @robinwarner @digitalrn @sarasdadandmom @njmeller @sandier @aj1268 @kalexa @jenrobcarr Thank you all for trying to guess what the Darwin sculpture is made from. It is actually made from burned books - of Darwin. The eyes are burned holes and the beard is made from pages. My photo doesn't do it justice. It's really awesome to view in person.

Artichokes or Burned Books! I saw the answer. LOL
It is so nice to meet a fellow New Englander! Though some say Fairfield Cty is part of NY, I can prove my loyalty by rooting for the Red Sox.
