I decided to change my focus from those I miss to those who are still here. This is my son Tommy and his girlfriend Katie. For their last day of vacation they walked to Orleans to go out to breakfast and then came back to our house to bake a blueberry pie. After I picked them up in Orleans we stopped by the beach for an impromtu photo shoot. It was crazy windy, so photo conditions were not ideal, but we had fun.
Laurie, you sounded so sad in your last post when you had to say goodbye to one part of your family. I think you're right in remembering the part of your family that's still nearby. Sounds as though you had a fun day! Another great family portrait - despite the wind!
beautiful, Laurie. what a great way to re-focus some of that sadness. I went to the beach today, too, after Justin left. There was such brightness and wonder that I was grateful that I had that moment to regroup myself. Tomorrow I say goodbye to Ben. . .one foot in front of the other. . .
I agree with @sarasdadandmom. I think the wind really adds to the mood of the shot. My favorite portrait I've taken was on the beach in Chatham in September with the wind whipping at my friends' hair. Something about that makes the photo feel alive. Looks like Tommy's made a good choice....she's very pretty. Any girl who would come to her boyfriend's house and help bake a pie is a keeper in my book.
@aj1268 When I looked through my whole year of photos, the thing that I noticed the most was how much Tommy matured. I had three girls first and girls look almost like grown-ups at 13. Having a boy is an everlasting source of joy and surprise.
