Day One of Year Two by lauriehiggins

Day One of Year Two

Since I started Year One with a beach photo, it seems appropriate to do the same for Year Two. I liked this photo because of the trio of suns. It reminded me of the Christian Trinity and also of the trinity of mind, body and soul. I meant to come back sooner, but life has a way of interfering with our plans. Those who follow me regularly may remember that right after Christmas, I posted a photo of my daughter, Melissa, and the good news that she was expecting a baby in August. We learned that she lost that baby this week and are all quite heartbroken over this news. Plus a dear friend from church passed away, so we had a funeral to attend yesterday.

My dear and talented brother, Chris, put together a video of slides of the highlights of my first year. At six minutes, it's probably too long for anyone but family members to view, but I'm posting the link to the video here so it is part of my project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C47_rlAmSXI&feature=youtu.be

The song choice is corny, but I really did have the time of my life and I owe all to you all. I can't wait to catch up with all of you, and thank you so much for all your support and comments.
Gorgeous shot!

@aj1268 @paulaag Thank you, Paula and Paula...for your words and for taking the time to watch the video. You are both so, so sweet. As I looked through my first year (many, many times) to choose the photos I loved best, I realized alot of them really were the photos of my loved ones.

It's like a twinkle in the sky. Beautiful.

What an amazing view Laurie!
January 9th, 2012
Welcome back, dear friend! I watched your video...very cool! This photo is lovely too. I have grown to see this kind of sunset as "your style". That, and all the coastal shots. Looking forward to seeing what this year brings. :-)

wo magnificent Love the sharpness to it.

Laurie I'm so sorry to hear of the losses your family has suffered. Will go take a boo at your video now.

@5unflow3r Your words about my "style" made me smile. Isn't it interesting how it's not just themes, but a way of looking at and framing the world that becomes recognizable to others?
January 9th, 2012
Beautiful shot I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. Sending lots of good thoughts your way.
January 9th, 2012
What a great way to start your second year

Love the orange glow

I listened an saw the slide show you posted from your brother. I watched it twice, it was so cool.. He did nice job and I diffidently do not think it was corny. I fave'd the photo because of the brilliant colors, and the clarity of the shot. I love the sea oats sticking up in the shot.
I am so sorry to hear about Melissa and the baby. We too, lost our first child and I know the pain that brings. Our prayers will be coming your way for your entire family. I am also so sorry to hear about your dear friend. I deal with so many bad people in my job and that is the first thing I think of when a good person passes, questioning why not them instead of this person. Without our faith, this would be a tough world. Hang in there my friend.

Very nice to see you back! I'm so sorry that your little break involved such sad events. Give Melissa an extra hug for me. I heard her voice on Sky's piano recital clip. That was an adorable little piece. As for the video you and Chris did, it's awesome. I like the "burns effect" he did on the pics. I don't know what else to call it --- if he has a mac, he'll know what i'm talking about. I love that your project included so many family shots. I'll always remember the first shot of yours that really caught my attention, matching a name with a pic, and it will stay in my mind forever --- the view from behind of 3 generations strolling the beach. Your sunset shots are amazing. You really need to print and frame this one. It's a fitting start to a wonderful new year.

Laurie! Welcome back! I've missed you. I'm so sorry for you losses. :(. You first shot is beautiful. I did the same thing, I took a picture of the same ornament I used for my first shot last year. A sunset would have been much better. Lol

Lovely photo to start off year 2. I'm really glad to see you back. I love seeing your photos so much I would really miss it if you didn't continue. I know how strapped for time you are, and know it's a commitment to do 365, but I know how much joy (and pain sometimes) you get from it. Maybe there's a book in there somewhere?! My love to Melissa, and to you.

Such a great way to review your year of wonderful photos. I don't think the song is corny at all, just perfect! Peace and blessings to you and your family xo

My thoughts are with you and yours for your losses.Your photo is the perfect beginning. It's like a spot of hope rising from darkness. I like that it reminds you of trinity. I watched the video too, what a touching memento of a year filled with loving family and precious moments. I'm happy you are going to continue year 2, but I'm sorry it had a sad start.

Laurie, I was so sorry to hear that Melissa had lost her baby and you had to deal with the loss of your friend - so many heartaches to deal with, especially over the holidays. I'm so glad you're back on 365. This photo is beautiful, and I'm looking forward to seeing many more of them during the upcoming year.
