@exposure4u@ellen Climbing on the roof is the kind of thing I do all the time for 365. Or maybe not, but it's not a bad idea. My second daughter used to do it all the time. She climbed up that tree whose branches you can see on the left. I didn't discover this until she wrote an essay about it in 8th grade and her writing teacher showed it to me - not to admonish me as a bad parent (which obviously I was if I didn't know she was doing that), but as an example of her writing talent.
you always have great composition in your shots. nice setting for the nuthatch. your talented climber-writer-daughter will really appreciate this shot.
Wow you climbed on your roof ? Well this was worth it... what a great photo. I like the shingles as background. And of course the bird came out so crisp.
Thanks for the club info. This guy is so bright. I haven't had one of these at my feeder since 1/5/08. We usually one get white-=breasted nuthatches. Great catch.
Laurie, get down off that roof immediately! Love nuthatches. I love the way the walk down trees up-side-down. I don't think I've ever see a red-breasted one though. Nice catch!
@yoshi I could pretend I know what I'm doing, but I don't. I simply slap the big zoom lens on my camera and start shooting. When I get a shot it is always a happy accident, not anything I knowingly did.
@sailingmusic I didn't realize how rare the red-breasted nuthatch was when I shot this photo. I didn't even know what it was until I looked it up in two different bird books. I'm still learning about birds, but I really love them.
i never have any luck
