I finished work a bit early today (for once) so I spent the late afternoon exploring Chatham with my camera. I can't remember the last time I saw so many "Private Property" signs in one day. This is a pier at Stage Harbor, which might be my new favorite place to visit. I spent about an hour here today, and it was so, so peaceful, and not another person in sight.
I looked at 'Stage Harbour' on the web and they have video snapshots taken every hour. The photos are not in a patch with yours. Good grief this is so beautiful, I have typed the word FAV right away!
Reminds me of when I lived in Chatham and Scott and I would go hang out on private decks of people's summer homes (in the snow!) and borrow the view! Pretty!
Talk about the golden hour! Laurie, this is truly a beautiful capture. I'm sure it was a sight to see in person. I can see why it's your new favorite place. So glad you were able to get off early to capture it and share with us! Fav!
Love the silhouettes of that pier. I've been trying to find a similar shot, which I did the other day, but I have to drive an hour and a half to get there and time it for sunset!
@sailingmusic Myrna, I process only minimally. For this one, I did crop and bump the exposure a bit because the original was kind of dark, but now I'm not sure that was the best choice. I also did a very slight bump in clarity. But the colors were straight out of the camera.
Gorgeous sunset! I love those golden tones! I need to get down there and do some exploring. The only times I've ever been by Stage Harbor I was running a road race and (obviously) didn't get to shoot.
@melissapike The only time I'd ever been to Stage Harbor before this week was to interview an author whose property I was actually trespassing on to take this photo. I'm not sure exactly where I was though, because it didn't look quite the same as the Stage Harbor on the websites I looked at. I'm planning on going back to explore further.
