Those who follow might remember my trip to Stage Harbor in Chatham last week where I took a sunset over the pier shot and mentioned all the private property signs. When I saw the thick fog today, I headed back because a foggy pier is on my bucket list for year two.
I got the requisite shot and then started exploring further, maybe on private property. I'm pretty sure someone called the police, because just before I took this shot, a cruiser pulled up really slow and then stopped right next to me. I took the time to take this photo before turning around and addressing the police officer.
He asked, "Whaddah you taking a photo of?" I gave him a big smile and said, "Fog." Then I explained the 365 project and told him about my bucket list for year two. His only comment before he left was, "We sure do have piers and fog in Chatham."
You too? I've found I've gotten much more daring the past year when taking photos. Things I wouldn't have dared go past, I now go past with regularly in order to get the shot.
Well done. I need one of those badges in the Sony division however. @sarasdadandmom
Lol! Too funny! That sounds all too familiar! :) I love your "fog" answer! Hehe! This is gorgeous, Laurie! Well worth the risk of life time behind bars! Fav!
Oh it does pay to have connections, and I am glad to hear the officer apparently had a love for photography. If it became necessary we would have come up there to bail you out Laurie, or at least visit you LOL
really cool foggy shot - and yes, worth getting nearly arrested for!! love the link to Terry's shot too! Like this nicely captured under that pressure!
@yoshi There were way more challenges than I expected! Before I left home, I did some online research about which lens to use because I've learned that in bad weather you have to just pick a lens and stick with it. Changing your lens in weather like this will make your sensor dirty in the blink of an eye. A zoom lens is supposed to make the fog thicker, but I was already dealing with really thick fog, so I chose my regular all purpose lens. The photos all ended up darker than I wanted. It was actually dark, but I was hoping for something a bit different.
Love this story and how you got the shot! I too have been getting a little braver when it comes to getting the shot! Love this foggy scene and well worth the trouble getting it! Fav!
OH WOW..Laurie..this is spectacular. i am all about taking foggy landscapes..i can't wait for a day like that and i can go down and do a pier shot... xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Awesome story....so great that you took the time to take this photo before talking to the officer. Love it! The golden tones with the fog are just amazing.
I love it!!!!! I will do the same thing. I feel so guilty, because I have trespassed on more than one occasion, but usually I get out of it by playing dumb (then I feel so bad about lying about it) No one has ever been mean or rude though, So I guess I'm lucky!
Well done. I need one of those badges in the Sony division however. @sarasdadandmom
this has happened to me too often to the point where i've almost become really weary to take photos in certain places
this is definitely a fav! its gorgeous
and all the effort, how can i not fav!!?
any challenges to shoot into the fog?
hope tommy is good, hope results all ok x
This picture was well worth the "risk"! LOL!!
