Our "Littles" chicken coop was raided by a raccoon last night. Poor Lucy got mauled pretty badly before my husband chased the raccoon away. Her entire right side is injured, including her eye and ear. She has gashes on her side, neck, shoulder and stomach and her back has been entirely stripped of feathers.
We cleaned her up and put an antibiotic cream on her wounds that also has a pain killer. She's now living in a large dog crate next to her friends all day and in our house at night while I nurse her back to health. I hope she makes it. She is such a gentle and sweet chicken who lays small white eggs.
