I'm really enjoying reading about this place and your discovery of it. I'm curious what are you doing there, work with this phosphate extraction, or with wildlife?
@chewyteeth neither of those, Christmas Island these days is known for three things, the annual red crab migration (which I hope to see), the phosphate mining and for being a place the Australian Government receives and detains asylum seekers coming to Australia by boat.
@lbmcshutter cool. We have a show here in the UK which follows Australian customs as they search, argue with and detain various unlikely incoming passengers. whenever I watch it now I'll think of you in a jungle, surrounded by wildlife snapping away with your camera and refusing people entry. I do love making assumptions about peoples lives based on their 365 pictures, is it just me that does that?
@chewyteeth no it isn't just you who does that, I like the image of me snapping away in the jungle, but not so much anything to do with that program, we've had that, the UK, US and NZ versions on our tv here and it is pretty far removed from my life (thank goodness).
But yes I think it is easy to form a mental image of a person and their life based on photos.
