Christmas Island Boobies (Sulidae)

The ubiquitous seagull doesn't make an appearance here on CI (well not that I have noticed anyway), instead we have the clowns of the seabirds the Boobies, here are red footed and brown boobies - the endemic and endangered Abbott's booby has proven more elusive, but I have spotted a nesting spot, just need to return there camera in hand.
I had no idea there were so many different types of Boobies!
Lovely clear shots... you must have a lot of patience!!

@juliem thanks so much, these birds can be quite trusting of humans so I have managed to approach them for some good close shots. Apparently due to their tame natures were easy for shipwrecked sailors to catch and I read that Captain Bligh and others with him ate them when cast out to sea following the mutiny on The Bounty

I'd certainly be happy to wrap my laughing gear around a hefty booby, whether for breakfast, lunch or tea :)
