Waiting for the train - they're never on time .....
I glanced into the jungle when driving to work and noticed this train through the trees about 150m into the jungle. I have been driving past it almost everyday for the last 5 months and just spotted it for the first time. There used to be a train line across the island, now most of the track is gone, a couple of station/stops remain and there is an engine in one of the parks, but now I am wondering what other remains hidden in the jungle.
Wow! What a crazy find...and the jungle takes back that which was taken...score one for the jungle! Love how the train is becoming covered in mosses, as if the metal itself is converting to the organic material of it's surrounding.
Trains FTW! I honestly never expected you to find one of these. Looks like an old diesel shunting locomotive. What's the chances you can get some pics of the old stations, too? Sweet :)
@jannaellen@intrepidme@bill_d@shantwin@renelou@kerristephens thanks - I have started driving far more slowly, erring into the jungle seeking more finds like this @brizmako There are two stations that I know of, both are a little boring really, the star trails the other week was next to the old station, but one does get lovely afternoon sun, so perhaps next weekend I can get out there
@chewyteeth Alan and I go back a long way (mere babes in the woods), but presently are in very different time zones staying in touch through 365 @keithdavid it was odd I drove past it for so long without seeing it just hidden behind the trees, now I know it is there I wonder how it was ever hidden. The tree canopy overhead cast such a green glow to the light it was rather special
