As I drove home towards Canberra I drove through this bush fire affected area an admired the regrowth, thinking about the Australian plants that require the fire for seed germination. For much of the bush fire is a new beginning not an end.
This photo is an end, it is the end of my three months of road tripping. The end of 15 months of living away from home, I started the project in Darwin, and then lived on Christmas Island and the last 3 months travelling western NSW, Victoria and South Australia. The photo is the final photo of 365 days of photos on project 365.
I'm happy to be back to living at home in my own house, all of my things around me, and like the bushfire clears the undergrowth, I think I need to clear away some of the accumulated clutter.
I am proud of my 365 photos and that I have made it through a year of photos. With this next year I will be trying some new directions in photography, I have just ought Photoshop elements and will be learning a bit on post processing, maybe even do a course. I have made some purchases on eBay now winging their way to me, including something I have wanted for about 2 years an infrared
converted dslr - and that should be fun. I'm not finished with nature and wildlife photography, I think that is what i love best.
So as 2011 comes to a close this is not an end, it is a new beginning. As 2012 I will be continuing with project 365, I am not sure I will post every single day (I will try) but I want to continue with the community here and I want to continue to show you my view of things in Australia - there is so much of it I haven't shared yet.
Happy New Year
Beautiful - I look forward toward my very first year at 365 - I just started Dec. 13th. Already I have learned so much. I only have a point n shoot but I'm making the most out of it. Glad your about to venture another year. I look forward to learning tips from you & other 365 friends
What a lovely note to end on--- I'm intrigued by the idea of the plants that *need* fire to reproduce. Congrats on finishing the project! Very jealous of that infrared DSLR; I hope we get to see some of it in 2012! I have really enjoyed being a part of your journey and seeing your world. Have a happy new year and enjoy being home again =)
Congratulations on finishing your year. You were very lucky to be able to travel so extensively. The infrared fitted DSLR will be a great addition to your equipment. I can't wait to see some of those postings. The pressure is off, so post when you can. Wishing you all the best.
Today's my last day too Megan, but like you, will be continuing on - for all the same reasons. I love this photo and the message it brings - it's a great "last" photo for your project.
Congratulations on making it to the end!!! What a great achievement, i have loved looking at your pics and look forward to seeing more. I love this photo your are finishing with, i really like how the trees appear to be in waves with their beautiful shapes, and i always like to fave a 365th photo!! Have a great New Years:)
Megan this is brilliant - what a way to end and restart, excellent! I have so enjoyed seeing those incredible wonders through your lens - 365 would be a duller place if you ended today. Very Well Done M'lady for a year of incredible photos and thank you for taking my breath away so many times. x
Yey whoop, whoop!! I'm the same, new year, new page - I didn't for a minute think of it as -new year-finish the book. The book never finishes always learning is the point of life! (maybe mixed my metaphors up a bit) I'm going to try and shoot people all the time, try...maybe the odd sunset and leafy tree might creep in. xx
so glad you are continuing on.. I would miss you..
