Memento Park Budapest by lbmcshutter

Memento Park Budapest

with the fall of communism in Hungary, the communist era statues around Budapest were removed. Many Eastern European countries melted the statues down, the statues from Budapest were place in storage, a few years later they were placed on vacant land outside the city and this evolved into Memento Park - an open air museum.

We were among the handful of visitors that day and at first we were very quiet and respectful, but very quickly we decided to have some fun with posing with the statues, culminating in the cheeky shot above. A Japanese tourist had a wonderful time following us around and taking photos of our antics, we offered to take his shot and he declined but he seemed to enjoy himself laughing with us.
I think this is the first time that I have appeared in my project, other than as a shadow

I am glad that you are in this shot, not only to see your smiling face, but it gives the statue scale. It's huge!!

Great way to show the sense of scale! They don't make statues quite like they used to...

They certainly went in for imposing/intimidating figures. Great way to lighten up the moment and shot. Checking to see if everything is proportional?
