Good Friday at Stanton Drew Stone Circle with worshippers
Late afternoon on Good Friday we went to the nearby village of Stanton Drew to see the stone circle.
To me they seem to have their own power, the power of this one was enhanced by the group chanting and moving into various poses, I assume were part of their ritual - they seemed to be led by the woman in purple. I think their attire was a little disappointingly normal.
The stones drew people in, an older gentleman in tweed and hat with a walking stick hung back until this group had finished and moved off. He moved to the circle and spent a good 10-15 mins gazing at one of the stones, occasionally touching it and then he left.
I'm completely facinated by stone circles...especially since becoming obsessed over Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" novel series :) Nice capture...yeah the mysticism would have been helped if they were wearing robes!
@kazlamont I love that series..! Always waiting for the next. Last time didn't they leave the little boy in a mine tunnel underground while whizzing back through time to find him ...?!
Gret shot - How wonderful that they were so engrossed in what they were doing that they didn't mind what they looked like! These fascinate me - why did they take so much time and effort and planning to do these, when survival must have been so hard? "Bit bored today.. I know, let's shift some enormous boulders and make a circle of them"....?!
