Unter den Linden - I think I need to return when the trees have leaves

I can only imagine this path would be magnificent when the trees are green and the sky is blue.

If you look very carefully you can see the Brandenburg Gate - I headed away from there as it was wall-to-wall police car and military uniforms around the Brandenburg Gate that I was a bit concerned that something was happening plus I wasn't sure how they'd feel about me taking loads of photos that they may appear in.

The boulevard runs east west from Schlossbrücke to Brandenburg Gate.

It began as a bridle path in the 16th Century which was replaced by a boulevard of linden trees.
By the 19th century, as Berlin grew and expanded to the west, Unter den Linden became the best-known and grandest street in Berlin. In the 1930s many trees were chopped down during the construction of a north-south rail tunnel, the rest were chopped down, often for firewood and the boulevard largely destroyed during the war. It was replanted in the 1950s.

There were food stalls at various points in my stroll, it was too cold for the yummy icecream and currywurst doesn't appeal, but I can highly recommend the crepes.

I would like to return to Berlin when the trees have leaves and the skies are more often blue than grey.
Beautiful seasonal scene. I think it would look spectacular in autumn too as the leaves changed colour.

Yes I think the leaves would pretty- it up a bit but the stark branches somehow suit the view with the gate at the end...
