Any ideas?

There are three trees loaded with this fruit ion a car park in Felixstowe. Like a cross between tiny pears and apples, but when crushed don't smell like either.

The leaf looks more like pear. Wonder if they are quince, which look like pears but are very hard - but usually bigger?

Looks like a good crop of whatever they are, and they are pretty against the wooden fence.
