Dappled things

Glory be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced—fold, fallow, and plough;
And all trades, their gear and tackle and trim.
Gerard Manley Hopkins
Sweet shot...love the shadows and flowers dappling the grass

@auror Thank you, your comments are always appreciated
@tristansmum I first came across GMH when I was doing my degree with the Open University. I have loved him ever since. Although his poetry is difficult to get a grip on sometimes it always conjours up the most amazing word pictures. Every autumn I walk the footpaths and find myself quoting Godlengrove in my head. Pied Beauty is summer for me..
